◆ Aerospace FAQ · 03 / 04
Aerospace-program questions.
Compliance, materials, and inspection questions aerospace sourcing and engineering
teams ask before issuing an RFQ.
Do you have AS9100 certification?
AS9100 isn't required to discuss your program. We operate to customer flow-down requirements and drawing call-outs. If AS9100 certification is a hard requirement for your specific procurement, ask before we quote — we'll confirm fit.
Are you ITAR-registered for export-controlled aerospace work?
Yes — Kontrast4D is ITAR-registered. We handle export-controlled aerospace and dual-use hardware, from prototype through low-rate production. NDAs are available on request before files change hands.
Can you provide first article inspection (FAI) reports?
Yes. Critical features and first articles are verified on a Mitutoyo Mistar 555 CMM with a Renishaw PH10MQ motorized probe. We deliver first-article inspection reports on request.
What aerospace-grade materials do you machine?
Aluminum (7075-T6/T651, 6061-T6, MIC-6, 2024), titanium (Ti-6Al-4V Grade 5, Grade 2), stainless (17-4 PH, 316L, 304), and engineering plastics on request. Tool steels and brass/copper available.
Do you handle complex 5-axis aerospace geometries?
Yes — the 5-axis Hermle C250 is the workhorse for complex brackets, housings, and structural parts. Programmed in hyperMILL, run in a temperature-controlled environment for thermal stability over long cycles.
